Plot: Four friends set out on a motorcycle adventure weekend, clocking up miles in an attempt to outrun their age and urban lifestyles. After bartering with a local land owner for a place to set up camp, they spend the night reminiscing over their wasted youth. The following morning they spot an ominous looking caravan, and decide to investigate. Within minutes, an idiotic prank leads to a series of brutal events and a deadly race for survival.
Kris McManus's 2nd spot in the directors seat, this gritty British thriller/horror is not too bad at all. It does have issues, but both myself and the girlfriend ( who will not watch any old tosh) sat through this quite gripped. You start out shouting dirty pikey scum at the screen but end up rooting for the gypos at the end, which in my eyes is some clever filmmaking. These aren't the type of pikeys that tear up my local Harvester on a Friday night, these are mean looking animals, or so we think.
Wanna buy some lucky heather darlin?
The pace is pretty much spot on and there are a few moments of good gore. Certain scenes, like the boxing match, drag a little but there are moments of proper tension. Being pissed on by a huge gypo really does get the hairs standing on the back of your neck.
Let's shoot some didikai
The biggest complaint for me was the acting. The pikey's were good, almost very good, but the city boys were a trifle wooden at times. All in all though, a nice, fast paced, tension filled gypsie tear up. Bangin!
Would you let him tarmac your drive?
Summary:
Great because:
- Great tension
- We all wanna shoot a pikey
- British, and British is cool
- Good plot twist
- Some characters are wooden
- Some scenes drag
- Some deaths were a little quick
- No one wants to be cheering for a gypo
Gore: 3
Scares: 4 (tension more than scares though)
